Chargeback Threats
We are happy to announce that Chargeback Protection
now also supports chargeback threats.
Why is this addition so important? Since the launch of our chargeback
abuser reporting service, we have been contacted by many companies
whose procedures are not fully compatible with the system. These
companies don't have any actual chargebacks to report since, in
the case of a chargeback threat, they negotiate with the customer
to avoid the chargeback and end up granting a partial or total
refund or other forms of economic compensation. Companies prefer
negotiation because, if they suffer a great number of chargebacks,
they risk having their merchant accounts cancelled and they know
that the customer can always deny having authorized the payment.
The problem is that the cost of avoiding all chargebacks by this
means is usually too high.
Now these companies are given the possibility of reporting not
only chargeback abusers but also those customers who threaten
with a chargeback. Then, customers will think twice before making
a threat. A simple communication by e-mail, fax, or any other
recordable medium where the customer mentions they will request
a chargeback from the credit card issuer is enough for a chargeback
threat report.
This new option is now available in the abuser report form, both
for free and paid services. Also, searches now indicate clearly
whether a record has been created due to a Chargeback or a Chargeback
Threat.
Companies who are existing Chargeback Protection users should
update their policy statements to reflect the addition of this
new type of report.
Thank you for your ongoing support and feedback
